What are the issues with copper plumbing in a home built in 1988?

Avery G

I have a friend who has a home that has copper plumbing. The residence was built in 1988, and she was told by a neighbor that copper plumbing is bad and has to be removed/replaced in order to keep the value of the home for resale. This doesn’t seem to make sense and the home DOES NOT have any plumbing issues to date. The neighbor cautioned that copper plumbing can burst. Is there any ring of truth to this or is the neighbor thinking of something else. A home built in 1988 doesn’t seem that old to me.
Please help. All answers are welcome. Thanks.
Additional details. Here is the suspected issue:

Different metals or types of pipe: copper and galvanized iron, were directly connected in the potable water supply system

From this point of view, we are told the entire plumbing in the home needs to be changed. Can this be right?

Bathroom renovation qu. Can the toilet be moved w/o interfering w/ plumbing?

nittanyisland2000

I saw pics of this house I am thinking of buying and there is an old toilet and old sink vanity (which is very small). I want to move the toilet 2ft to the left which will make more room for a larger, newer sink vanity. My qu is can you move a toilet that far from its current position or will plumbing interfer? Thanks.

How do I fix this leaking shower?

Amber E

I have a shower stall in one of my bathrooms that is leaking really badly at the shower head and intermittently at the cold faucet. The shower head is REALLY old, and I can’t get a replacement because it is a ball-joint, not a regular shower head. (It is not leaking between the arm and the shower head, just out of the head). It was a drip for a while, but now is alsmost a constant trickle of water–which is really annoying.

The water in at the faucet is intermittent and seems to leak from 2 places, behind the entire fixture, and between the turnable part and the stationary part. It is not constant, and is only a drip when it does leak.

I am not terribly skkilled with tools (husband even worse), but I wondered what I could do to stop these annoying drips!

Thanks for your time.

I need a reputable plumber for my leaking shower, how can I find one quickly?

I have a leaky shower, and need a reputable plumber ASAP. What is the best way to find a good one on a tight budget?
I need a reputable plumber. Anyone can list in the yellow pages! I have asked family and friends, but this is the first home my family has ever owned, so we’ve always done our own work. This one is outside our expertise however.
