Yes, draino or liquid plumber does not work.
Remove and clean your pop-up first, it catches most junk.
Then remove and clean your p-trap.

Is it a sink drain or many drains. If it is many drains it is likely that the plug is in a common pipe or main drain. How about stools any of them plugged ? Find the common pipe between these plugged drains. Then look for a clean out in that pipe. It is usually a plug in a Y joint. Rent or buy a 25 foot or larger snake and take that plug out and run the snake down the pipe……. or call a plumber.

Either one can be used and that’s why most people in the business just use the word “trap” because that’s what it does. Most people thinks it’s called that because it traps things that fall down the drain but in reality, it’s called a trap because it traps sewer gases not allowing them into living space. All drains should have some type of trap.

If it plugs up immediately when water is run, the popup mechanism is probably plugged up with hair or debris. It is usually locked in place by the ball rod nut under the sink. After removing the popup, I use an old fitting cleaning brush to retrieve the hair gob. See if this works. If it doesn’t, I’ll walk you through the next step.
