Why is the NFL trying to cover up the New England Patriots ordeal?

Why help them out? I want to know what is really going on and i wouldn’t mind having some justice either. Walsh just turned off 8 new taps and one of them was the AFC championship game of the steelers
Who else wants to see this Franchise get dismantled and caught for all the lies and cheating they have done?

    I would love it if all the Patriots players were split up, and had to go to different teams, and the coaching staff was banned for life from Coaching in the NFL!

    look i’m not saying that pats aren’t a good team they have three rings but the spygate thing won’t go away until justice is served. We now know that they cheated to beat the steelers in a 2002 AFC championship game, pats fans know that a little fine and taking away a first round pick when they had two isn’t much of a punishment by the so called iron fisted commissioner Roger Goodell who suspends players without a single thought for off the field(not on the field like the Spygate incident) problems. that is why it looks like a cover up because of the weak punishment they got from Goodell compared to the other ones that he dished out.

    He has yet to meet with Goodell. Is there more information that we do not know about?

    But even if there is not, the fact remains that Belichick and his crew have been cheating for a long time and they got away with it. The fact that they did not hand in some tapes does not mean they had some more tapes at some point. The fact that it happened over such a long period (years) could mean that they destroyed some tapes because they were no longer useful or the Patriots staff might have been afraid of being caught because they had so many built up over time.

    The fact that Goodell accepts the word of the well-renowned genius coach’s word that he simply did not understand the rule is proof enough that this is a thinly veiled coverup by the NFL. Either Belichick is a moron or Goodell is letting the Patriots staff get away with something. The punishment was not nearly enough for the crimes committed over the many years. Belichick should not just be suspended, he should be banned from coaching.

    I wish the tapes were released to the public, not the NFL. It is time that the corruption of the NFL became answerable to someone else. Goodell is a bad man. He claims to be so tough on bad behavior and wants a good image for the NFL. But this is all for show. The man himself is very corrupt. This Patriots scandal is proof enough of that. I fear for the future of the NFL if people like this continue to lead the way. I wish more people took a stand on this issue and demanded justice in the NFL to turn the league in the right direction. Maybe a new commissioner would be a good idea. He just doesn’t seem honest and consistent to me.

    CHAD5770, I respect your opinion. You make a solid argument. Think, however, that this game is important to Americans. That is not going to change. That is why corruption in the NFL is a bad thing. Our children look up to these teams. If they see that it is okay to cheat or do wrong in any other way, then we should do something about it. It is important.

    Sadly, you are right that we are not paying as much attention to other things in life as we should, such as war and the environment or other important matters. But the fault does not lie in football. The fault lies in our selfish nature and our selfish government. We need a change. Not just a democrat for a republican. That will do nothing. We need a serious change in our government and lifestyle.

    I am not a sensationalist, searching the internet for the “Britney/”-type stuff you mentioned. That is rather insulting. Please, try not to go overboard when making a point. Otherwise you might provoke an emotional response rather than calm discussion.

    I think in some respects that since the “Patriots” are named as such, gives this a rather ironic twist. We are currently in a state of relatively mild unrest in our country as we go through presidential elections. Speaking of justice and nation and change brings this NFL issue a certain contrast that is intriguing. But it is hardly equal to the larger picture. But the larger picture is made up of smaller pieces. And if we ignore the small pieces, then the whole picture falls apart.

    I think the government is behind the cover up, they are all in bed together. THIS IS A GAME!! Relax, there a million other things to worry about, oil, a war, credit crisis. No wonder this country is in shambles and hated all over the world, this is the stuff people care about, this and Britney/ Paris/ Lindsey etc…Unbelievable. They were punished, Walsh has nothing new to report, what they did was not illegal, just immoral. Lets see how they do moving forward under the microscope, you can’t change the past.

    ChiTownPride and Starmark pretty much have the answer right on…ever since their slap on the wrist punishment I felt that Kraft and Goodell are in “cahoots”.. Every Pats fan says “Oh they got their punishment.. get over it.. youre just jealous cuz we’re the best”…Thats not what its about.. These guys go into the draft with hopes that they’ll be getting to wear a SB ring… hold up the Lombardi.. and the Pats cheated alot of teams out of that. ANY team could have their records if they just busted out their video cameras. As far as Im concerned they ARE NOT this great franchise everyone makes them out to be.. GREAT franchises dont need to cheat to succeed. Belichick is a joke… and the entire organization is a disgrace to the NFL…
