Our guest bathroom needs to have some renovations done, and she wanted to lay the pipe in the bathroom. I don’t really trust her doing it correctly so I hired a contractor. She’s really mad about this. Why?
How can I compromise with her?
well you just said it yourself you don’t trust her and don’t believe in her. How would that make you feel?
She doesn’t feel that you gave her a chance at showing she can be the one to lay the pipe. Could be that she wanted to save money by doing it herself.
She feels you have no trust in her pipe laying skills.Involve her in other minimal renovation work like picking out colors for the bathroom and things like that and she wil probably let it go.
Aww you made her feel like less of a person… not only does it show her that you don’t trust her to plumb a bathroom (rightfully so, I would probably hire a professional too) but you are giving her the image that if you doubt her pipe laying abilities, you must also doubt her pipe cleaning abilities…. and every other thing she thinks she is good at.
Because you didn’t listen to her and you didn’t trust her.
You should’ve let her have a go – if she’d done it well you’d have been able to be proud of her, if she didn’t you could have got the contractor in.
