So I’ve moved into my boyfriend’s recently, and he’s given me one of the 2 bathrooms to completely make over. It’s a pretty small bathroom; a walk-in shower, a toilet, a sink. That’s about it. I’ve become pretty zealous in all of my renovation decisions, and because I don’t have much money, I’m going to be doing this all by myself. So to make sure I don’t completely mess up the whole room, I figured I should ask a few people how to do things first! So here are the main two things I’ve found to have trouble with:
1.) There’s a towel bar right behind the toilet (a pretty inconvenient place for a towel bar if you ask me), and I want to remove it. It’s a plastic towel bar within a ceramic base, which is somehow connected to the dry wall. I’m guessing it’s glued with some sort of… glue… So how would I go about removing it, and then how would I go about repairing the most likely ripped dry wall? I also am having the same issue with my ceramic toilet paper holder, which is connected to the dry wall in front of my toilet (another strange location if you ask me). I’m guessing that this would be removed the same way as the towel rack? If not, please inform me!
And 2.) The interior to my walk-in shower is made up of some sort of fake marble sheeting. It’s not tiled; it’s just straight sheets of this fake marble-looking stuff. And I absolutely HATE it. There are 3 sheets of it, on the 3 walls surrounding the shower, and then the door is made of frosted glass. I can stand the frosted glass, but I want the bathroom to be pure white. So I have two options that I see: I could gut the shower and re-tile it. OR… I could save myself to trouble and paint it solid white. Now, see, I have no idea if this is a possibility. And if it IS!! how would I go about doing that? Like what kind of paint would I use? And if the painting idea is a shot in the dark, how can I remove these sheets of fake marble that are about 2 feet talller than me and about twice my weight? I have no idea how there attatched, might I add. So yeah…
Thank you so much for helping me with my little precidament!!!
